Reading Time: 3 minutes

I’m a law firm principal, not a social media expert.

But over time, I’ve found a simple way to consistently show up online and build trust with potential clients before they ever need my services. When that moment does come, I’m often the first call they make.

I’ll be honest—my schedule’s packed. Like most firm leaders, I don’t have hours to spend on content creation. But with a clear strategy and the right systems, I’ve been able to create videos that reach thousands of people and grow a strong online presence.

If that sounds out of reach, I promise it’s not. If I figured it out, you can too.

Instagram posts are the core of my social media presence; short informative videos straight from my mouth, like this one about how intimidating a courthouse can be.

How do I find the time? I don’t. My social media team takes care of most of that.

How we do it

Here is how it works:

  1. I come up with an idea for a post, say “Prior bad acts.”
  2. I pull out my phone and record myself talking about it.
  3. I send that recording to my social media team. They and our other nearshore team members are in Monterrey, Mexico at the Regents office.
  4. The team assembles a video. They edit in supporting footage, add onscreen text, and make it all snappy. All my “umms” and “ahhs” and false starts get cut out.
  5. I get a chance to see it, give it an OK, and the video gets posted to social media.

It’s pretty great. I am glad I can get my ideas out so smoothly. My team makes me look good. Sometimes when I am traveling, I see something that inspires me and out comes the phone. I was visiting an old library in Italy, and it made me think about doctor’s notes:

We got 4,600 views, 52 comments, and 150 shares for that one!

To set up this sort of system, you need to get creative. For us, the breakthrough was having our team in Monterrey. They are talented and professional, and they are priced at a reasonable cost for a local law firm like ours.

We create material that accurately reflects who we are, our expertise, and why a client should choose us. By making the process easy, affordable, and fast, I can up my social media cadence and build more relationships. My number of followers keeps rising!
